Chickpeas

A tasty legume full of vitamins and carbohydrates

You may know chickpeas from hummus or falafel, but they are much more than that. The chickpea stems from the Middle East but is now grown mainly in Asia South America and North America. It is best to keep them in a dry, cool and dark place. Chickpeas are often used in oriental cuisine but they are also an ideal meat substitute for vegetarians and vegans.

Chickpeas can be prepared in different ways, i.e. they can be baked, cooked or fried.
